After breakfast, proceed on a full day of game viewing within the reserve. The Mara's landscape — scenic savannah grassland rolling across dramatic hills — provides the best game viewing in Kenya. The reserve's extensive road and track network allows for close-range viewing and photography of the Big Five and beyond.

Break for a picnic lunch at the famous hippo pool — watch hippos wallowing and enormous Nile crocodiles basking on the riverbanks. Afternoon game drives continue before returning to camp for dinner and an evening under a stunning Mara sky.

After an early breakfast and optional morning game drive, depart the Mara region heading north to Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive takes you back through the Rift Valley — lunch is taken en route at a convenient stop.

Arrive at Lake Nakuru in the evening. The lake and its surroundings form a UNESCO World Heritage Site — a sanctuary for both black and white rhino, prolific flamingo flocks, cape buffalo, waterbuck and leopard. Dinner and overnight at Chester Hotel in Nakuru town.

After breakfast, proceed on a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park — one of East Africa's most rewarding parks for bird and wildlife photography. The park is famous for its prolific birdlife including hundreds of thousands of flamingos that colour the alkaline lakeshore pink.

The park also contains a dedicated sanctuary for the conservation of the white rhino — sightings are common — while cape buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe and lion can all be found near the shoreline and acacia forest. After the game drive, drive back to Nairobi arriving late afternoon. End of safari.
