Conservation and wildlife in Kenya

Conservation & Charity

At Dawn Safaris Kenya we live and breathe Africa. We love everything about this extraordinary continent and understand that we have a responsibility to protect and respect her — her nature, her wildlife, her people, her traditions.

We are proud to work with select suppliers and safari lodges that share the same ethos as Dawn Safaris Kenya. We partner primarily with conservation companies focused on protecting local habitat and wildlife, and those directly empowering local communities through employment, economic support and funding of schools and medical centres.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your East Africa adventure.

Ask Us Directly →
When is the best time to visit Kenya for a safari? +
The best time is during the dry seasons: January–March and July–October. The Great Wildebeest Migration peaks between July and September in the Maasai Mara. Even the green season has its charms — fewer crowds and lush, photogenic landscapes.
Do I need a visa to visit Kenya? +
Kenya uses an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). Most nationalities apply online at etakenya.go.ke. Processing takes around 72 hours and costs USD 30. Apply at least 2 weeks before departure — we're happy to guide you through it.
What should I pack for a safari? +
Pack light and neutral (khaki, olive, beige). Essentials: wide-brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable walking shoes, fleece for early mornings, binoculars and a camera with zoom lens. A full packing list is provided on booking.
How many people are on a typical game drive? +
Maximum 6 guests per vehicle — everyone gets a window seat. For complete privacy, we offer exclusive private vehicle hire. All vehicles are custom 4×4 Toyota Landcruisers with pop-up roofs for 360° wildlife viewing.
Can I combine a safari with a beach holiday? +
Absolutely — and we highly recommend it! Kenya's Swahili Coast (Mombasa, Diani, Watamu, Lamu) is a short domestic flight from Nairobi. Our Beach & Bush packages combine 4–5 days of game drives with 3–4 days of ocean relaxation.
Which destinations do you cover? +
Our services are focused on Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Uganda. This is no coincidence — we purpose to focus on what we know and what we do best, ensuring unmatched quality in every destination we offer.
What vaccinations do I need for Kenya? +
A Yellow Fever certificate is mandatory if travelling from an endemic country. We recommend Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid and Tetanus. Anti-malarial medication is advised. Consult your doctor at least 6 weeks before departure.
What is the deposit and cancellation policy? +
A 30% deposit confirms your booking, with the full balance due at least 14 days before departure. Full deposit refund for cancellations more than 90 days out, on a sliding scale closer to travel. Full details are in your booking confirmation.
