Met on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at the appropriate time and transferred to your hotel. Check in to Ole Sereni Hotel on bed and breakfast basis. The hotel looks out directly over Nairobi National Park — you may spot giraffe and zebra from the terrace on your very first evening in Kenya.

Take the evening to rest after your journey and prepare for the extraordinary 14-day safari adventure ahead. Your Dawn Safaris guide will brief you over dinner about the days to come.

Day Two
Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve

Between 7:30 and 8:00am, pick up from the hotel and depart for the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, driving via the spectacular Great Rift Valley viewpoint and through Narok town for refuelling. Arrive at Mara Sopa Lodge in time for lunch.

After lunch and settling in, proceed on your first introduction game drive in the Maasai Mara from 4pm to 6:30pm — tracking lion prides, elephant herds and the vast wildebeest migration herds across the golden plains. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Full Day Maasai Mara — Migration Views

After breakfast each morning, proceed on a full day of game viewing within the reserve. The Mara's landscape — scenic savannah grassland rolling across dramatic hills — offers the best game viewing in Kenya. The extensive road and track network allows for close-range viewing and photography of all the Big Five.

Break each day for a picnic lunch at the famous hippo pool — watching hippos wallow in the murky water and enormous Nile crocodiles basking on the banks. Full afternoon game drives continue, tracking cheetah families across the open plains and positioning along the Mara River for potential wildebeest crossing action. Dinner and overnight at the lodge both nights.

Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart the Mara region driving north to Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch. The drive takes you back through the spectacular Great Rift Valley landscape — one of Africa's most dramatic geological formations.

Afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and dedicated sanctuary for both black and white rhino. The park's alkaline lake is famous for its flamingo flocks, while the surrounding acacia forest harbours leopard, lion, cape buffalo and waterbuck. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day Six
Lake Nakuru to Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, proceed on a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park — tracking the white rhino sanctuary herds, prolific birdlife including flamingos, cape buffalo and waterbuck along the lakeshore. The park is one of Kenya's most rewarding for rhino sightings.

After the game drive, drive south to Amboseli National Park — approximately 5 hours — arriving late evening in time for dinner and overnight at the lodge. As you approach Amboseli, Africa's highest peak begins to dominate the horizon.

Day Seven
Full Day Amboseli — Elephants & Kilimanjaro

A full day of game drives in Amboseli — a park famous for its swamp grounds where elephants and hippos bathe in abundance against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Dawn reveals the snow-capped peak in stunning clarity before the clouds build — one of Africa's most iconic wildlife images.

A variety of plains game, antelopes and bird species can also be seen throughout the day. Picnic lunches in the park. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight — Amboseli's night skies, far from city lights with Kilimanjaro glowing in the moonlight, are truly unforgettable.

Early breakfast at the lodge, check out and proceed on a final morning game drive as you head towards the Namanga border point. Your Dawn Safaris team handles all immigration formalities at Namanga — the crossing into Tanzania is straightforward and well-organised.

Catch the shuttle bus to Arusha, where you are met by your Tanzanian guide and transferred to Green Mountain Hotel, booked on bed and breakfast basis. Today you may choose lunch and dinner at your own leisure — explore Arusha town, visit the cultural heritage centre, or simply rest.

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park — approximately 2 hours from Arusha — arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon of game viewing. Tarangire is one of Tanzania's most underrated parks, celebrated for its multitude of ancient baobab trees, enormous elephant herds and its remarkable tree-climbing lions.

Lesser kudu, eland, gerenuk and reticulated giraffe can all be found in this beautiful park, alongside impressive bird diversity. Dinner and overnight at Roika Lodge — a comfortable midrange lodge set within the park landscape.

Tarangire to Ngorongoro — Crater Descent

After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This afternoon, descend 2,000 feet (over 600 metres) to the floor of the crater for a full crater tour with picnic lunches. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest inactive volcanic caldera — a natural amphitheatre home to over 25,000 animals year-round.

Explore the forest areas inhabited by monkeys and elephants, the alkaline lake area where flamingos congregate, and the open savannah where the famous black-maned Ngorongoro lions hunt. Both black and white rhino are regularly seen inside the crater. Dinner and overnight at the lodge on the crater rim.

Drive to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge — the site of Louis and Mary Leakey's renowned archaeological discoveries. Some of the earliest known ancestral human remains were found here. You may visit the on-site museum at extra cost — a fascinating window into human prehistory.

Arrive in the Serengeti for lunch at camp, then an afternoon game drive across the endless savannah plains — a chance to see the great wildebeest herds, zebras and gazelles, or a pride of lions lounging in the shade of an acacia. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Wild Camp.

After breakfast, depart with picnic lunches for a full day in this extraordinary savannah grassland park — tracking the various species that inhabit one of the world's greatest wildlife ecosystems. Depending on the season, you may encounter the wildebeest migration herds, calving season on the southern plains, or dramatic river crossings in the north.

The Seronera central zone offers reliable year-round lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog sightings. Break for picnic lunch in the bush and continue game driving until evening. Return to camp for dinner and your final night under the Serengeti stars.
