Africa's second-highest peak. Dramatic glaciers, unique afro-alpine flora and magnificent views from Point Lenana (4,985m). Choose your route — Sirimon, Chogoria or Naro Moru.
Mount Kenya — Africa's second-highest peak at 5,199m (technical summit) — offers some of East Africa's finest mountain trekking. The standard trekking objective is Point Lenana (4,985m), achievable without technical climbing equipment and offering extraordinary views across Kenya and Tanzania on clear days.
Dawn Safaris offers guided climbing expeditions on all three main routes — the Sirimon, Chogoria and Naro Moru — as well as the popular Sirimon to Chogoria traverse. Our certified mountain guides know every ridge and valley: your safety, acclimatisation and summit success are our primary mission. The mountain's diverse habitat zones, unique afro-alpine flora (giant lobelia and groundsel growing to extraordinary sizes) and resident wildlife make Mount Kenya a remarkable destination beyond just the summit.

Drive from Nairobi to your chosen route trailhead. Begin the hike through montane forest and bamboo zone to your first high-altitude camp.
Climb through the moorland and heath zone, ascending gradually through the remarkable afro-alpine vegetation including the famous giant lobelia and groundsel. Arrive at base camp below the peaks.
Pre-dawn start to summit Point Lenana at sunrise — one of Africa's most spectacular mountain experiences. Descend back to base camp or begin traverse descent depending on route choice.
Complete descent via your chosen route and transfer back to Nairobi. Route and duration customised to your fitness level and preferences.
