The Great Migration Safari

An early morning transfer to Wilson Airport for your scheduled light aircraft flight to the Mara — 45 minutes of breathtaking aerial views over the Rift Valley escarpment and the endless savannah below. Your guide meets you at the airstrip.

After settling in and lunch, head out for your first afternoon game drive. The Mara rarely disappoints — expect lion sightings, zebra herds stretching to the horizon, and the characteristic red-oat grass glowing gold in the afternoon light.

Rise before dawn for your first morning game drive as the Mara wakes up — cheetahs scanning the plains at first light, lion prides returning from the night. Return to camp for a full breakfast on the open-air dining deck.

After a midday rest, head out again in the late afternoon. Your guide will position the vehicle along the Mara River in anticipation of crossing activity — even if a crossing doesn't happen today, the scene of thousands of wildebeest gathering on the bank is extraordinary.

Today is dedicated to the river. Your guide positions you at one of the prime crossing points along the Mara River from early morning. As the wildebeest congregate in their thousands on the opposite bank, the tension is electric. Then — in a moment of collective madness — they commit.

The chaos is indescribable: thousands of animals launching into the crocodile-filled river, the sound of hooves and splashing water, the desperate scramble up the far bank. Without question, one of the most extraordinary things a human can witness. This afternoon move to your second camp — deeper in the Mara Triangle for exclusive game drives.

Wake at 4:30am for a pre-dawn transfer to the balloon launch site. As the envelope fills and the burner roars, you lift silently off the ground. As first light spreads across the Mara, the plains are revealed in extraordinary detail — herds of wildebeest, hippos in the river, a pride of lions on a kill.

After landing, a champagne bush breakfast is served by your pilot in the middle of the Mara — one of the most memorable meals of your life. Return to camp, rest, then a full afternoon game drive along the Tanzania border.

This morning's game drive is followed by a visit to a traditional Maasai village — a genuine and deeply moving cultural experience. Your Maasai guide will welcome you into the boma, explain traditions of cattle herding and warrior life, and demonstrate the extraordinary jumping dances that have defined Maasai identity for centuries.

Return to camp for lunch and rest. For your final game drive, your guide takes you to a favourite spot for sundowners — gin and tonic in hand, watching the sun melt into the Mara horizon as zebra graze silently nearby.

A final optional dawn game drive before transferring to the airstrip. The short flight back to Nairobi carries you over the Rift Valley escarpment one last time. On arrival at Wilson Airport, we transfer you to Nairobi or directly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
