On arrival in Nairobi, be met by your local driver/guide and transfer to your hotel. After a quick freshen-up, visit the Giraffe Centre — where you hand-feed, stroke and even hug the elegant resident giraffes. Lunch is served at Karen Coffee Garden — the old administration building of Karen Blixen's coffee plantation — followed by a visit to the legendary Karen Blixen Museum.
Your driver/guide then heads south towards Amboseli National Park, Kenya's smallest but most spectacular park. Depending on arrival time, lunch may be en route or at your lodge. That afternoon, your very first safari awaits — Amboseli is especially famous for its large herds of elephants, many bearing enormous tusks. The iconic sight of elephants against the backdrop of snow-capped Kilimanjaro is one of the great images of Africa. The sparse vegetation makes spotting animals easy, and the park's swamp areas attract extraordinary birdlife year-round.
